Consequence of Sound Premieres Said the Whale’s “New Brighton”

Listen to “New Brighton”

With the promise of Said the Whale’s brand new EP on the horizon, the prestigious music blog Consequence of Sound is excited to premiere the title track from the upcoming release today. According to guitarist and vocalist Tyler Bancroft, the song has a particularly interesting origin:

“The song is about a NASA research team working at Pavillion Lake in BC. They are studying these rare-occurring microbialite structures at the bottom of the lake and comparing them to the first life on earth, looking for clues about the beginning of life. The song is written from the perspective of one of these microbialites, and how their environment is being invaded just to answer a scientific question about the past. …That weird enough for you? Because its true!”
